Usage

Shortcodes:

  • [wine_list_menu_type_and_winery]: Embed a wine list with filters for users to search and navigate your collection.
  • [wine_list_menu_type_and_winery_bottom]: Showcase your wine collection in a menu format, ideal for restaurants and events.

AI Assistant:

  • Access the “Wine AI Assistant” page in the admin to ask wine pairing questions or get menu suggestions.
  • The assistant will analyze your current wine list and respond accordingly.
  • All interactions are logged for future reference.

Consumption Alerts:

  • In the plugin settings, enable alerts for wines nearing or past their ideal consumption date.
  • Choose the frequency of email notifications: daily, weekly (every Monday), or monthly (on the 1st).
  • A dashboard widget displays wines that are expiring soon, already expired, or missing a consumption date.

External services

This plugin connects to the OpenAI API for two optional features: the Wine AI Assistant, and reading a wine label from a photo. Neither works until you add your own OpenAI API key under “Wine AI Settings”, and nothing is sent before then.

The Wine AI Assistant sends your question together with the list of wines in your cellar (name, vintage, winery and quantity). Reading a label sends the photo you choose, resized in your browser before it leaves the site. No other data is transmitted, and the plugin stores nothing on OpenAI’s side.

Requests go to https://api.openai.com and are billed to your own OpenAI account.
