M7tawa Extension Finder adds a beginner-friendly discovery tab to the native Plugins > Add New screen.

Instead of asking users to know technical search terms, the plugin presents clear needs such as protecting a site, improving performance, creating a store, adding forms, making backups, or working with media.

When a need is selected, M7tawa Extension Finder maps that choice to an appropriate WordPress.org Plugin Directory tag and lets WordPress display the matching plugins using its native installer interface.

A dedicated settings dashboard under Settings > M7tawa Extension Finder lets administrators enable or disable the guided finder tab and choose which discovery cards appear. Settings are stored in one lightweight WordPress option.

The plugin does not maintain its own plugin catalog, does not rank or endorse individual plugins, does not create custom database tables, and does not run scheduled background tasks.

External service

This plugin relies on the WordPress.org Plugin Directory API through WordPress core’s built-in plugin installer functions. This is necessary to retrieve plugin results for the selected WordPress.org tag.

Requests are made to WordPress.org only when the Add Plugins screen needs directory data. The request may include the selected directory tag, the current page, result count, and the user’s WordPress locale as handled by WordPress core. WordPress core may also include standard request information such as the WordPress version and site URL in its request user agent.

No data is sent to the plugin author’s website by M7tawa Extension Finder.
