The separately distributed Kitawolf Dead Links Checker Pro plugin adds scheduled background scans, email reports, scan history, advanced report filters, CSV exports, and bulk recheck/unlink workflows. It is not included in this WordPress.org plugin.

External services

This plugin checks links by making HTTP HEAD or GET requests from your WordPress server to the URLs found in your published posts and pages. This is necessary to determine whether each link responds successfully.

In this free plugin, requests are sent when an administrator starts a scan. If a separate add-on is installed, it may also invoke scanning according to its own settings. Each destination website receives the requested URL, your server’s IP address, and the plugin’s user-agent string. Because the destinations are the websites chosen in your own content, their respective terms and privacy policies apply. The free plugin does not send scan results to Kitawolf Studios or to a centralized link-checking service. Requests use the WordPress HTTP safety checks; local-site allowances and site-level filters can affect which destinations WordPress permits.

Source code

The human-readable React and Sass source is included in the src directory. Build configuration and locked dependencies are included in package.json and package-lock.json. Run npm ci followed by npm run build to reproduce the compiled assets in build.
