Supported Feed Types

Usage

After activation:

  1. Get a YouTube API Key — Create a free API key from Google Cloud Console. See the built-in Documentation page for a step-by-step guide.
  2. Create a Feed — Choose your feed type: Channel, Playlist, Shorts, Search, or Single Videos.
  3. Enter your Source — Add your Channel ID, @handle, Playlist ID, or Video URLs.
  4. Customize — Select layout style, number of videos, and display options.
  5. Publish — Use the shortcode [captain-feed-for-youtube id="X"] on any page.

Getting Your YouTube IDs

Use the built-in Documentation section inside the plugin admin for detailed guides on:

External Services

This plugin connects to the YouTube Data API v3 provided by Google to fetch YouTube channel information, playlists, Shorts, and videos for display on your website.

What data is sent and when:

  • YouTube API Key (required to authenticate requests)
  • YouTube Channel ID or @Handle (to fetch channel videos)
  • Playlist ID (to fetch playlist videos)
  • Video ID(s) (to fetch specific video details)
  • Search query term (for search-based feeds)

This data is sent to Google’s servers only when:
– A feed is loaded on the frontend
– A feed is previewed in the admin dashboard
– Cached feed data expires and is refreshed

No visitor personal data is collected or transmitted by this plugin.
