How it works

Import a CSV that includes latitude and longitude for each location. Locations appear on the map immediately. Re-importing updates delivery dates and coordinates for existing retailer/brand combinations instead of creating duplicates.

Only have street addresses? You can look up coordinates yourself on Google Maps, fill them in with any geocoding tool and re-import, or connect an optional beveragefinder.net account and click Get Coordinates on the BevFinder → Get Lat / Long screen. The account is a paid service with a free starter plan. Everything else in the plugin works fully without it, and the plugin only contacts beveragefinder.net when you click one of its buttons.

External Services

This plugin connects to the Google Maps Platform to display the map, and — only if you choose to — to beveragefinder.net to convert addresses into coordinates.

Google Maps JavaScript API (Google LLC)

• What it’s used for: rendering the interactive map, location markers, and the “your location” marker icon.
• When data is sent: every time a visitor views a page containing the [beverage_finder] shortcode.
• What is sent: your Maps API key, the page’s referring URL, the visitor’s IP address and browser details (as part of any request to Google), and the map coordinates being displayed.

The visitor’s own location (if they allow it) is read by their browser and sent only to your WordPress site to sort results by distance.

beveragefinder.net address lookup (Taps + Tables)

• What it’s used for: converting the street addresses of your locations into latitude/longitude, and showing your plan’s usage. beveragefinder.net uses the US Census Geocoder, with the Google Geocoding API as a fallback.
• When data is sent: only when a site administrator saves a beveragefinder.net WordPress API Key on BevFinder → Get Lat / Long and then clicks Get Coordinates or Check account. Nothing is sent automatically, on a schedule, or from the front end.
• What is sent: the WordPress API Key, your site URL, the plugin version, and the street address, city, state, and ZIP of locations that have no coordinates (or whose Google-provided coordinates are more than 30 days old, which Google’s terms require be refreshed). Retailer names, products, and sales data are not sent.
