Arrow Social Image Publisher

Arrow Social Image Publisher connects WordPress to an Instagram professional account and lets an authorised WordPress user manually publish WordPress Posts with featured images.

The Free plugin contains the manual publishing functionality described on this page. Premium is a separate plugin/product that adds automation, scheduling, queues and additional content types.

External Services

This plugin connects to external services only when needed for Instagram account connection, connection testing, or publishing.

Arrow Design Instagram connection service

The plugin uses the Arrow Design connection service at arrowdesign.ie to complete the Instagram OAuth connection flow.

When an administrator starts a connection, the plugin sends the site’s callback URL, site URL, site name and a one-time OAuth state value to the Arrow Design connection service. After Instagram authorisation, the plugin sends a short-lived handoff value, the OAuth state value and callback URL back to the Arrow Design service to claim the connection result. The service returns the connected Instagram account ID, username, access token and token lifetime to the WordPress site.

Instagram / Meta API

The plugin communicates with Instagram’s API at graph.instagram.com to test the connected account and publish image posts.

When testing a connection, the plugin sends the stored Instagram access token to request the connected account profile. When publishing, the plugin sends the connected Instagram account ID, access token, featured-image URL and generated caption to Instagram, then sends the returned media-container ID to complete publication.
